- The new City of Rock, which will be held in Parque da Bela Vista on June 20, 21, 27 and 28, counts with 14 spaces for attractions, including 6 premieres.
- Rock in Rio Kids, Sports Bar, Rock Street Asia, Game District and VR roller coaster are the first new attractions of this edition, which is foreseen more magical than ever.
The City of Rock is more magical than ever and brings more attractions, new experiences and lots of entertainment for what will be the 9th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa. The biggest music and entertainment event is back at Parque da Bela Vista (Lisbon) on June 20, 21, 27 and 28, 2020, and the first news has already made itself known.
Believing that it is the experience that defines how the consumer relates to a brand, Rock in Rio expands the entertainment offer for its 9th edition, bringing new attractions and activities to the City of Rock, contributing to deliver an increasingly immersive experience, enriching and unique. Thus, the already known Palco Mundo, Galp Music Valley, Super Bock Digital Stage, Yorn Street Dance, Gourmet Space, 7Up Slide, Somersby Pool Parties and VIP Area join, for the first time, a Sports Bar, bringing the excitement of the world sporting grounds inside the festival grounds; a Rock in Rio within Rock in Rio, dedicated to the youngest (Rock in Rio Kids); and a block entirely dedicated to Gaming (Game District) where, in addition to the famous Worten Game Ring arena will be another of the main novelties: a VR roller coaster. Rock Street, a space that has already won the preference of visitors to the City of Rock, returns for another edition, now under the theme of Asia, with more and new experiences. But the news does not stop here and neither will the giant ferris–wheel be the same. In the enclosure, there will also be premium spaces with a personalized service, such as Tables and Rooftops.
According to Roberta Medina, Vice President of Rock in Rio, “we want to celebrate the magic, the sparkle in the eyes and the smile on the face. It is the experience that makes us tell stories, share moments and keep special memories. The new City of Rock comes full of new experiences, built from the areas of interest to the public. It will be surprising!”.
The magic of the new Rock City: new spaces and new content
ESC Online Sports Bar
Inspired by the spots that receive the experiences of the most varied fans, this new space will take the emotion of sport into the City of Rock. “Since we changed the dates of Rock in Rio to June, the festival takes place in the middle of the European or World Football Championship. We lived a beautiful and exciting moment in the last edition, when the whole City of Rock stopped to watch the selection game. That is why we decided to create a space where this vibration can be experienced throughout the event”, explains Roberta Medina.
This new space will therefore be dedicated to sports lovers and will live of broadcasts of games of various modalities, including all European Championship games that take place in the days of Rock in Rio, as well as experiences and moments of interaction with the public. from cheerleading competitions, to sweepstakes, to quizzes and many other surprises soon announced.
“ESC Online, in its strategy for 2020, in the Sports segment, will be present in campaigns with a special focus on the European Football Championship. RiR’s commitment in this area, and also in the Gaming area, with the Game District, where we have been reinforcing our presence, combined with entertainment as the genesis and positioning of our brand, created a very interesting opportunity of association with the largest music festival in the world. It is with great pleasure that ESC Online will be present, naming the Sports Bar of the event.”, Stated Rui Magalhães, the company CEO.
Game District
It was in 2017 that Rock in Rio introduced gaming at the festival, being the first in the industry taking this step. A strategy that proved to be a winner, with this content gaining more and more prominence and leaving the City of Rock to live as its own event (both in Brazil, with Game XP, and in Portugal, with Worten Game City). In 2020, gaming returns to Rock in Rio Lisboa having, this time, an entire block dedicated to you, with even more content and experiences from the world of video games.
It is to this block that the disputed arena Worten Game Ring returns, in addition to another of the great novelties of this edition: a roller coaster with virtual reality, which makes the already incredible experience of riding in this attraction even more surreal.
Rock in Rio Kids
One of the festival’s most loyal audiences, families, are given a dedicated space in the next edition. For the first time, Parque da Bela Vista hosts a Rock in Rio within Rock in Rio, designed with the youngest in mind (between 3 and 8 years old), where some of the festival’s stages and concepts are recreated as miniatures of Palco Mundo, entrance gate, slide, Rock Street and much more, as spaces for parents to follow the animation, among others.
Rock Street Asia
Rock Street is one of the most emblematic spaces of the festival and has already won the preference of those who visit the City of Rock. A space where the experience is truly immersive where the visitor is at the center of entertainment, amid colorful facades inspired by the architecture of a specific location, street entertainment and stage concerts.
In the next edition, this street dresses up with Asian culture and receives temples, palaces, a panoply of elements typical of Eastern imagery and sounds from a not so distant continent, where there will also be no lack of reference to Asia’s connection to Portugal.
Giant Wheel
One of the icons of Rock in Rio and one of the experiences that, after this edition, will never be the same. The spot with the most incredible view of the City of Rock, from where you can see the best sunset in Lisbon, returns even more special, with several surprises.
Rooftops & Tables
And because “experience” is the key word in Rock in Rio, thinking about the different targets that visit the City of Rock. In addition to the VIP area, there will be two types of premium spaces with personalized service, exclusive transportation to the event and a privileged location overlooking the entire venue and Palco Mundo.
“Over these 35 years, Rock in Rio has stood out for the experiences it creates and that is what we will continue to offer, as this is our DNA. In Portugal, we have already had 15 years of experiences and remarkable moments. The most recent example was the Celebration event at the Tower of Belém, which took the cultural experience to a new sensory and emotional level by combining a unique stage with unique concerts, videomapping and fireworks. Two weeks ago we finished another edition of the festival in Brazil, where experiences within the City of Rock were once again the highlight. Above all, immersive experiences that bring the audience closer to the show and involve them even more in the event and the music. And that is what we are going to do in Lisbon in 2020, offering new moments in the City of Rock that embraces new spaces, new sensations and new memories for the future to all fans who walk through the festival”, highlights Roberta Medina.
Within the theme “experience”, Rock in Rio launched the Pack Experiences powered by FNAC earlier this month. Available online and in all FNAC stores in the country, for 69 € (the same price as the daily ticket) this pack guarantees access to an event day (voucher that can be exchanged for a daily ticket for the day of your choice), entry into the enclosure by the FNAC fastline and a double invitation to the testing event (preview that happens days before the festival), in addition to the possibility of winning one of the 500 exclusive experiences such as duplicating the ticket for the festival, early entry, walking tour in exclusive locations from the City of Rock, FNAC lifetime card, quick access to the slide or the ferris wheel, upgrade of the ticket to access the VIP area with a companion, lifetime ticket to Rock in Rio Lisboa, among many others. This pack also offers a set of advantages outside the City of Rock, such as 10% discount on the purchase of music at FNAC stores, discounts on Galp fuels (Main Sponsor of Rock in Rio Lisboa) or 15% discount at the stores of the Rock in Rio official products.
